How to hack wireless networks.
What is Wifi Hacking?
Wifi hacking is essentially cracking the security protocols in a wireless network, granting full access for the hacker to view, store, download, or abuse the wireless network. Usually, when someone hacks into a Wifi, they are able to observe all the data that is being sent via the network.
Requirements:
You need wifi adapter which can be run as monitor mode, below are the some models of wifi adapter you can use in case you are running kali-linux as Virtual Machine.
- TP-Link TL-WN727N
- ALFA AWUS036NEH
Steps:
- Install the wifite tool by below command or
apt install wifite
OR
- Clone and use following github repo: https://github.com/derv82/wifite
2. Wifite use different passwords dictionaries to crack the wireless networks passwords. if you want to give custom passwords dictionary list you can run wifite by below command.
wifite -dict /usr/share/wordlists/rockyou.txt
3. It will start scanning for wireless networks around you.
4. Press CTRL + C when you find the victim wifi name, in this tutorial I am attacking on “TP-Link 379wbd2"
5. Now select number of your target wireless network, you can also attack on all the wireless network just by entering “all”, it will start different types of possible attacks.
6. When it’s successfully capture the handshake, It start cracking and give you results when it’s done.
